Back Again

I am so excited to be back again; to start blogging once again. I know that I have been away for a while, but pregnancy had me with a serious case of writer’s block and too drained to do much after work. I was finally blessed with a gorgeous baby boy eight weeks a go :) The road to recovery post c-section and adjusting to my new role as a mother has been tough, yet rewarding & exciting in every way. I now appreciate every single activity that used to give me the slightest of gratitude before; such as a simple manicure, a coffee out with the girls or writing a post on my blog about something that I love!!

So, I would like to thank my readers, family and friends for their continuous support and for being patient with me & not giving up on me. Although handling a new born, a full time job & a blog may prove challenging, I can only promise to do my best!

Exclusive: Private Tour of the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa – Kuwait

I finally got a chance to check out the much anticipated and awaited for; Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa a couple of days a go on a private tour organized to reveal this ultra luxurious establishment. Let’s just say that the hotel is the epitomy of lavishness in Kuwait, with attention to even the smallest of details. It is huge, featuring over 480 rooms, including seaside villas and boasts the largest infinity pool with a pool bar. In addition, the hotel features a private beach, 2 other swimming pools, the Talise Spa, health club, banqueting facilities, children’s area & 6 restaurants. The Spa & Health Club are scheduled to open in July and will have a separate reveal event which I am eagerly looking forward to!  All in all, the hotel truly exceeded my expectations and I look forward to enjoying some of it’s facilities as it is one of the few places that made me feel like I wasn’t in Kuwait for a moment. Anyway, below are some pictures I took on the private tour of my favorite areas in the hotel.
The tour commenced in the Royal Grand Suite on the 5th floor, a truly spectacular affair grossing 350 sqm!!

One of the highlights of the tour is their special Events Room –  Reef, which enjoys complete privacy and can be used to host gatherings, small parties/diwaneyas.

My all time favorite area – The Reef; a special events room….gorgeous!!

The hotel has introduced six exquisite restaurants to Kuwait’s dining scene that are truly appetizing just by their tasteful & unique interior design. Good luck getting reservations though as I was advised that some of them are fully booked days in advance, such as the popular steakhouse “Pepper“.

Arabesque Restaurant – an oriental themed restaurant

The definition of “unique”! Great for shisha on their outside terrace or even indoors.

Brides to be; brace yourselves as the Jumeirah Beach Hotel unveils the largest ballroom in Kuwait to date. With a capacity to hold up to 2000 guests, a bridal suite with an en suite photography room, hairdressing/make up room, family room, fully equipped kitchen and a panoramic view of Al Badriya Ballroom, I don’t know what else a bride to be could ask for!

Last but not least are the outdoor premises; the gorgeous infinity pool, beach & other pools are all collaboratively breath taking.

American Music Awards 2012: Red Carpet’s Best & Worst Dressed

The AMAs 2012 brought out the best in music and was an okay night for fashion for a change. Some of the red carpet looks could actually be labelled as “elegant”! Minus a few disasters (an event wouldn’t be complete without those), the overall fashion tone was subdued. Here are some of our best dressed & worst dressed of the night:

Best Dressed

Taylor Swift in Zuhair Murad

Taylor Swift not only stole the show on stage at the AMAs, she also stole it on the red carpet, strutting her stuff in her favorite evening gowns designer. The dress perfectly suited her, the heels complemented her outfit and the hair/makeup were a perfect 10 too.

Taylor Swift AMAs 2012

Kelly Rowland in Naeem Khan

Another popular red carpet designer choice worn beautifully by Kelly!

Kelly Rowland AMAs 2012

Nicki Minaj in Monique L’Huillier

Normally I wouldn’t consider this as a “best dressed” look. However, because it is Nicki Minaj afterall, looking like a normal elegant lady for a change, she gets 10/10 for effort and makes the cut!

Nicki Minaj AMAs 2012

Jenny McCarthy in Dolce & Gabbana

There’s something about her overall look that rocks!

Jenny McCarthy AMAs 2012

Worst Dressed

Jordin Sparks in Etro

What a hot mess in one of the most unflattering dresses ever!

Jordin Sparks AMAs 2012

Kerry Washington in Stella McCartney

Kerry has lately been disappointing us with her red carpet looks, making it on the worst dressed list almost every time! What is really going on?!

Kerry Washington AMAs 2012

Pink in Catherine Deane

A very strange choice for a very untraditional artist when it comes to fashion. It doesn’t get much more grand motherly than this.

Chris Brown

Chris Brown AMAs 2012

50 Cent

MTV EMA Awards 2012: Best & Worst Dressed – Worst Night in Fashion??!!

MTV’s European Music Awards in Frankfurt, Germany  witnessed some of the hottest stars in the industry strutting their stuff on the red carpet in not so rocking fashion :// From a purely fashion & style stand point, the event was a huge disappointment, with some of the biggest fails on the red carpet. I honestly can not say that anyone got it right at this event!

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel

I am not usually a big fan of Taylor Swift’s fashion sense, but she rocked this dress at the EMA’s.

Taylor Swift @ The MTV EMAs 2012

 Heidi Klum in Versace

Can we say OVERKILL?! Embellishments here, slits there, asymmetrical outline, lace up pumps, too much skin…..geez!

Heidi Klum @ MTV EMAs 2012

Kim Kardashian in Stephane Rolland

Not sure what to make of the trash bag vinyl trail dress? Not only did she almost trip over the long trail as she made her way on stage, this fashion faux paux dress left us less than awed! Really??

Kim Kardashian @ MTV EMAs 2012

Rita Ora In Marchesa

Not sure how I can describe this; a bold & unique choice? But the color & skin tone are completely mismatched/overwhelming and I’m not feeling the ball gown effect.

Rita Ora @ MTV EMAs 2012

Alicia Keys in Stella McCartney

Not the best choice for a RED CARPET event (maybe for a dinner) but I do love the green color & the choker. Mrs. Keys looked h-a-u-t-e!

Alicia Keys @ MTV EMAs 2012

Carly Rae Jensen in Helmut Lang

Bleak, bad posture, and non flattering color combinations. Enough said.

Carly Rae Jepsen @ MTV EMA’s 2012

Lana Del Ray in Shareen

A dress more fitted for a funeral not red carpet music awards, way too minimalistic!

Lana Del Rey @ MTV EMAs 2012

Election Night Style Off: Michelle Obama Rewears MK Dress

What did you all think of the First Lady’s  attire last night? As much as I love the First Lady, I did not love her choice for this monumental night. She stepped on stage wearing a Michael Kors magenta silk chine pin-tucked dress, which made her look like she packed on an additional 10lbs! Not only is the dress unflattering, but matching the deep burgundy dress with a black shrug just gave off very dull vibes on such a bright occasion. Overall, it wasn’t horrible but just not my favorite look for Michelle Obama.

It was reported that this is the 3rd time Mrs. Obama has sported this dress (obviously its one of her favorites); what a risky decision to make on such a critical night! I love the fact that she’s so humble but if this occasion does not call for a new outfit then what other occasion possibly would?! Just my two cents.

On the other hand, Mrs. Biden looked very simple but chic & pristine in her sleek sleeveless blue shift and matching statement on trend leather belt.

What did you all think?
